While interaction with a horse, simply grooming or petting, is therapeutic in and of itself, the This is Me! youth development program goes much further with a curriculum that teaches children how to communicate with their horse through body language, energy and pressure developing in them a greater capacity for empathy, social- and self-awareness which, over time, translates into better self-control and success in home, school and community settings.

Learn to find courage in the face of the things you fear, seek truth even when it is painful and change even if it’s uncomfortable so that you never miss an opportunity.

Self-discipline

Learn to be intentional about doing what you are supposed to do to have good health, good relationships and good habits so you can achieve your dreams

Influence

Learn to notice, encourage and add value to others so you can have a positive impact on your friends, family and community.

What is EAL?

The thing that makes equine assisted learning (EAL) with horses different from any other kind of experiential learning, such as a team ropes course, is that you’re interacting with a large, powerful, sentient being. Since the horse is not an inanimate object, you get feedback immediately.  In fact, the way horses communicate socially can be very similar to how we communicate in teams or in families.

How much does it cost?

Each class lasts 90 minutes and run for 4 weeks.  For all 4 weeks it is $125 per student.

We have a limited number of spots available.

How does it work?

Step #1 – Secure your spot!

Get signed up below to secure your students spot

Step #2 – Attend Each Week

Each week we will meet for 90 minutes. Parents/Guardians are welcomed to stay or drop off their student(s).

Step #3 – Complete Survey

Once the student has complete all 4 sessions, we ask for a survey for feedback on the program

who is it for?

This program is designed for youth ages 8-18 who live in Owen or surrounding counties. The program is designed to build strong core skills in an interesting and engaging environment as opposed to a “sit & get” classroom.

The program is perfect for young people who would benefit by growing in the areas of building relationships, better communication and improved self-direction as well as life skills such confidence, problem solving, making good choices, asking for help and having a good attitude.

We call our participants “students” as they are all school-age and they are in the program to learn and develop skills.

Our Mission

To help people discover and develop their hidden potential through meaningful experiences with horses.
